Tinawag ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ang naging pag-atras ni United States (US) President Joe Biden sa eleksyon bilang isang demonstrasyon ng “genuine statesmanship.”
“President Biden's decision to withdraw from his candidacy is a demonstration of genuine statesmanship,” ani Marcos sa isang X post nitong Lunes, Hulyo 22.
Sa naturang pahayag ay nagpasalamat din ang pangulo sa patuloy raw na pagsuporta ni Biden sa Pilipinas.
“We thank him for his constant and unwavering support for the Philippines in a delicate and difficult time. We wish him well for the rest of his presidency and for all his future endeavors,” aniya.

Matatandaang nitong Linggo, Hulyo 21, nang ianunsyo ni Biden, 81, ang kaniyang pag-atras sa kaniyang reelection bid sa US election sa darating na Nobyembre.
"While it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term," ani Biden sa kaniyang pahayag.
Kaugnay nito, inendorso ng US president si Vice President Kamala Harris bilang bagong presidential nominee ng Democratic Party, na siyang kakalaban kay Republican candidate Donald Trump.
