MULING inilunsad ang Miss Universe Philippines (MUP) beauty pageant, ngayon ay isa nang separate entity, para maghanap ng phenomenal Filipino woman.

Inilarawan ni MUP National Director Shamcey Supsup-Lee ang phenomenal Filipina na mayroong good values, versatile, inspires, and moves people with her beauty, charm, grace, ideas and causes.

“We are in search of a Filipina who best represents the country on the universal stage. We want a role model who can also leave and inspire positive impact in society. Miss Universe Philippines is a phenomenal Filipina,” ani Shamcey during the press conference na ginanap sa Empire Studios, Bonifacio Global City sa Taguig City nitong Miyerkules ng hapon.

Muling inilunsad ang Miss Universe Philippines beauty pageant matapos itong maging solo entity. Ang MUP ay dating parte ng Binibining Pilipinas beauty contest sa loob ng maraming taon.

Ang contestants ng Miss Universe Philippines ay magkakaroon ng tunay na trabaho sa loob ng dalawang buwan, aniya.

“They will attend shoots, events, cultural exposures, and personal trainings. They will push for their advocacies, develop your leadership skills, and promote our country to the world. They will get all those experiences while potentially earning an income during the course of the pageant,” dagdag ni Shamcey.

Magiging holistic ang approach sa development ng bawat kandidata ng Miss Universe Philippines, aniya pa.

“For two months, they will attend insightful talks from Venus Raj, myself and more! They will master the art of doing question and answer with 2007 Miss Universe Philippines Anna Theresa Licaros and Atty. Nad Bronce, enhance understanding of women empowerment with 2006 Miss Universe Philippines Lia Ramos, learn how to work the runway from Jonas Gaffud, develop leadership skills, gain knowledge on attaining financial freedom, promote sustainable tourism, and be trained by top hairstylists and makeup artists of the Philippines,” ni Shamcey.

Ang grand coronation ng Miss Universe Philippines 2020 beauty pageant ay gaganapin sa SM Mall of Asia sa Pasay City sa Mayo 3.

Ang iba pang members ng Team MUP ay sina: Jonas Antonio Gaffud, Creative Director; Lia Ramos, head of Women Empowerment and Charity; Albert Andrada, Design Council Head; lawyer Nad Bronce, Head of Legal Affairs; at Mario Garcia, Head of Business Development and Marketing.

Sinabi ng MUP Team na ang winner ngayong taon ay tatanggap ng mga premyong fit for a queen.

“For starters, the runners up get major cash prizes and guaranteed income. For the winner, aside from giving an incredible platform to her advocacies, she will have her own apartment, car, driver, personal assistant, and personal stylist. She will also get the biggest cash prize in the history of Philippine Pageantry. Simply put, it is going to be a life fit for a queen,” ani Gaffud.

THANK YOU, ARANETA

Sinabi ni Shamcey, nanalong 3rd runner-up sa Miss Universe 2011 sa Brazil na nagpapasalamat siya sa mga Aranetas sa pagbibigay sa kanya ng pagkakataon na maging Miss Universe Philippines.

“I am still a Binibini. I am very grateful for the opportunity that Aranetas have given to me. We would not be here without them. I am so grateful to that. And I think we can still support each other even if we have separate pageants. I don’t think we should have rivalry. Kasi we would be losing the essence of pageants if we would be pulling each other down,” aniya.

Idinadag ni Shamcey na: “I really wanted to reach out to the Aranetas in the next few weeks. Thank them for their contribution to the pageantry and of course they are my ninong and ninang. They are really close to me. I don’t think hindi dapat ito magkaroon ng lamat. When it comes to pageantry, let us just support each other.”

Inamin ni Shamcey na nagdalawang isip siya na tanggapin ang alok na pamuhuan ang MUP.

“To be honest, when I was offered about it, I was quite hesitant. You can call me the hesitant beauty queen. But I think I have a purpose why I’m here. Now I have a helping hand in creating a better future for the girls. I was scared because I’ve never done this before and it’s a big responsibility. But with the help of the team, we are confident that we would be able to do this pageant,” ani Shamcey.

Inalala ni Gaffud kung paano tinanggap ni Lee ang alok na pamunuan ang MUP.

“They called me and they said ‘Can you call Shamcey?’ Then with a loudspeaker and everything, they asked her ‘Are you ready to be the next national director of Miss Universe Philippines?’ ‘Yes! yes!’ Ganun lang siya. It happened so fast in Atlanta on Dec. 8 (Dec. 9 in Manila),” sabi ng pageant guru.

Sinabi ni Gaffud na magkakaroon ng ilang pagbabago sa activities ng MUP pageant.

“There will be no talent show and press presentation of the candidates. But we will have the gala presentation. Other activities are still being finalized,” aniya.

Sinabi rin ni Gaffud na ang broadcast partner ng MUP ay ipapahayag sa Pebrero.

Apat na beses nang nanalo ang Pilipina sa Miss Universe beauty contest: Gloria Diaz (1969), Margie Moran (1973), Pia Wurtzbach (2015) at Catriona Gray (2018).
