ISA si Miss Philippines Catriona Graysa mga paborito sa Miss World 2016. Pumasok na siya sa Top 20 semifinals ng longest-running beauty contest na ginaganap ngayon sa Washington, D.C., USA.

Si Catriona, 22, ng Albay, ang nanalo ng Multimedia Award na naghatid sa kanya sa guaranteed spot sa semi-finals ng 66th Miss World beauty contest.

Ang iba pang kandidatang pumasok sa semis sa pagkakapanalo sa fast-track events ay sina Miss Cook Island, Sports; Miss China, Top Model; at Miss Mongolia, Talent.

Pinasalamatan ni Catriona ang kanyang mga tagasuporta sa Facebook pagkaraan ng ilang sandali nang mapabilang siya sa semifinalist.

“First of all, thank you so much for all your support because I couldn’t have done it with you. I understand that we are on a high but I highly request everyone to stop the bashing and hatred towards certain individuals online,” aniya.

“Let us all be thankful for all the blessings we have received. We can be proud but let’s do it with humility. My sisters and I are having fun here and we all share a common goal which is to spread love and kindness to everyone we meet in this journey. Promote what you love instead of bashing what you hate,” dagdag ng dalaga, na matatandaang nanalo ng Miss Manila Hotel special award sa grand coronation ng Miss World Philippines 2016 pageant noong Oktubre 2.

Si Catriona ay kabilang din sa Top 5 candidates para Beauty With a Purpose category, isang mahalagang bahagi ng pageant na kumakatawan sa advocacy ng mga kandidata.

Para sa kanyang advocacy sa Miss World contest, itinatag ni Gray ang “Paraiso: The Bright Beginnings Project” na lumilikom ng pondo para sa preschool sa Smokey Mountain sa Tondo, Manila.

“Through multiple efforts such as holding and performing at benefit concerts, auctioning off original artworks, creating social media movements and approaching different bodies and companies, I hope to make the ‘Paraiso:

Beginning’s Project’ a success,” aniya.

“This would allow the number of preschool aged students to grow from 80 to 300. Securing this building will allow the young children to have access to a free learning environment – a chance and opportunity that every child is entitled too,” dagdag pa ni Catriona.

Hinulaan ng Pinnacle, isang betting firm sa London, na ang Miss Philippines ang makakasungkit ng korona ng Miss World sa hanay ng 117 contestants. Ang iba pang paboritong kandidata ay nagmula sa Mexico, Australia, India at Russia.

Si Miss World 2013 Megan Lynne Young, ang unang Miss World titleholder mula sa Pilipinas, ang magiging host ng grand coronation ng Miss World 2016 contest na gaganapin sa MGM National Harbor sa Maryland sa Linggo, Disyembre 18 (Disyembre 19, dito sa Pilipinas).

Mapapanood ang Miss World 2016 pageant sa GMA-7 simula alas-8 ngayong umaga via delayed telecast.
