Naglabas ng saloobin ang batikang mamamahayag na si Korina Sanchez matapos makita ang tone-toneladang basurang naipon sa Parañaque City, partikular sa lugar sa harap ng Baclaran Church, kasunod ng matinding pag-ulan at pagbaha na dulot ng habagat.
Sa kaniyang social media post, binigyang-diin ni Sanchez ang dami ng basurang inanod at naiwan sa daluyan ng tubig matapos ang pagbaha.
“Para mejo sosyal naman. Did you know basura in Spanish is also basura?” saad ni Sanchez sa kaniyang post.
Inilahad din ng mamamahayag ang kaniyang obserbasyon sa umano’y pagbabago ng daloy ng basurang nagmumula sa Manila Bay.
“All this garbage from the Manila Bay used to get washed up onto Manila waterways. Now with the reclamation it seems, the garbage now has diverted to Parañaque waters.”

Dahil dito, napukaw ang tanong ni Sanchez tungkol sa mas malalim na ugat ng problema sa pagbaha—kung responsibilidad lamang ba ito ng mga mamamayan o may bahagi rin ang pamahalaan sa usapin ng flood management at waste management.
“Wow. So tell me: mas kasalanan ba ng tao ang flooding problem natin? O ng gobyerno? I have an answer. You first," aniya pa.

"For me, hindi siya simply about people vs. government. Both have a responsibility, pero mas malaking accountability should be placed on those who have the power, resources, and authority to actually solve the problem."
