Inilahad ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. na mas dadali at mas lilinaw umano ang proseso ng impeachment trial kung ang akusado ang mismong dadalo sa gaganaping paglilitis.

Kaugnay ito sa isasagawang impeachment trial laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte sa Senado simula Lunes, Hulyo 6, 2026.

Sa ginanap na Kapihan with the Media nitong Linggo, Hulyo 5 (oras sa Pilipinas), ibinahagi niyang ring sa kabila ng kaniyang opinyon, nasa akusado pa rin ang desisyon kung dadalo ito o hindi.

“Well, my only experience with an impeachment trial was when I was senator with Corona—the Corona impeachment trial. And it’s really up to the accused whether or not they feel they need to appear. I guess the lawyers on the defense side will give their advice,” saad ni PBBM.

Aniya, “It’s not for me to say one way or the other. But of course, it would be much easier to get to the bottom of everything if you can speak to the accused directly—and the accused can answer directly—not through secondary channels, not through the lawyers.”

“Kung diretsong makapagsagot, e ‘di siyempre mas magiging maliwanag ang proseso, mas magiging madali ang proseso,” dagdag pa niya.

Giit pa ng Pangulo, kung siya ang nasa posisyon o ganoong sitwasyon, dadaluhan niya ang paglilitis lalo kung kaya niya namang sagutin ang mga katanungan.

“But that’s just my own opinion, and that’s not a legal opinion because I’m not a lawyer,” anang Pangulo.

Aniya, “But, I’m just trying to put myself in that position, I would probably myself if it was me being accused.”

“I would almost insist over the advice of lawyers if they advise me not to appear, I would insist on appearing. Kaya ko namang sagutin e ‘di sige, sagutin natin,” pagtatapos ni PBBM.

Sa kaugnay naulat, matatandaang inanunsyo ng Philippine National Police (PNP) na sila ay magde-deploy ng 6,000 pulis upang tiyakin ang kaligtasan at kaayusan sa gaganaping impeachment trial sa Senado sa Lunes, Hulyo 6.
