Direktang ipinahayag ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. na kung siya man daw ang akusado, personal niyang dadaluhan ang impeachment trial na isasagawa laban sa kaniya.

Kasunod ito ng isasagawang paglilitis laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte sa Senado simula Lunes, Hulyo 6.

Ayon sa Pangulo, magiging daan umano ito sa mas malinaw at mas madaling proseso ng impeachment trial.

“It’s not for me to say one way or the other. But of course, it would be much easier to get to the bottom of everything if you can speak to the accused directly—and the accused can answer directly—not through secondary channels, not through the lawyers,” saad ni PBBM sa ginanap na Kapihan with the Media sa Vancouver, Canada nitong Linggo, Hulyo 5 (oras sa Pilipinas).

“Kung diretsong makapagsagot, e ‘di siyempre mas magiging maliwanag ang proseso, mas magiging madali ang proseso. But that’s just my own opinion, and that’s not a legal opinion because I’m not a lawyer,” anang Pangulo.

“But, I’m just trying to put myself in that position, I would probably myself if it was me being accused. I would almost insist over the advice of lawyers if they advise me not to appear, I would insist on appearing. Kaya ko namang sagutin e ‘di sige, sagutin natin,” dagdag pa niya.

Gayunpaman, inilahad niya ring nasa akusado pa rin ang pinal na desisyon kung siya ba ay dadalo sa paglilitis o hindi.

“Well, my only experience with an impeachment trial was when I was senator with Corona—the Corona impeachment trial. And it’s really up to the accused whether or not they feel they need to appear. I guess the lawyers on the defense side will give their advice,” lahad ni PBBM.
