Naglabas ng opisyal na pahayag si Leyte 1st District Rep. at dating House Speaker Martin Romualdez sa naganap na insidente ng pamamaril sa isang pampublikong paaralan sa Tacloban City, Leyte nitong umaga ng Lunes, Hunyo 22, na ang suspek ay isang 15-anyos at 14-anyos na pawang estudyante.
Ayon kay Romualdez, lubhang nalulungkot at durog ang puso niya sa mga nangyaring trahedya.
"I am deeply saddened and heartbroken by the tragic shooting incident at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City that claimed the lives of students and left several others injured," ani Romualdez sa kaniyang opisyal na pahayag.
Aniya, inatasan na raw niya ang mga awtoridad upang alamin kung anong assistance ang maaari nilang maibigay sa pamilya ng mga biktima. Nanawagan din siya sa mga awtoridad na magsagawa ng masusing imbestigasyon kaugnay ng insidente.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims, the injured students, their classmates, teachers, and the entire school community as they face this unimaginable tragedy."
"I have directed my office to coordinate with local authorities and relevant government agencies to determine what assistance can immediately be provided to the affected families."
"At the same time, I call on law enforcement authorities to conduct a thorough and swift investigation so that all those responsible are held fully accountable under the law.," aniya pa.
Dagdag pa, "As we mourn, we must also reflect on what more can be done to ensure the safety and well-being of our students. We owe it to our children, our teachers, and every Filipino family to make our schools places where young people can learn without fear."
"In this difficult time, let us unite as one community in prayer, compassion, and support for those affected," pagtatapos pa niya.
Tatlo ang nasawi habang pitong mag-aaral naman ang nasugatan sa nabanggit na pamamaril.
