Nilinaw ng Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) - Tacloban City Council na hindi parte ng kanilang komunidad ang mga indibidwal na itinuturing na suspek sa naganap na shooting incident sa San Jose National High School, sa Tacloban City, Leyte, nitong umaga ng Lunes, Hunyo 22. 

“In these trying moments, as the community seeks answers, we must gently clarify that the individuals involved in this incident are not members of the BSP Tacloban City Council. Our official policies dictate that only duly registered individuals are recognized as Scouts, and we respectfully ask the public to help shield our organization from being associated with these actions, ensuring our focus remains entirely on comfort and healing,” saad ng BSP Tacloban City Council sa kanilang pahayag. 

Anila pa, sa kabila ng takot na dala ng trahedya, nangibabaw ang katapangan ng mga tunay na miyembro ng BSP sa eskwelahan upang rumesponde at makipagtulungan sa emergency responders. 

“Amidst the darkness of this tragedy, a glimmer of hope shone through the immense courage of the legitimately registered school-based Scouts of San Jose National High School. In a moment of extreme crisis and fear, these brave young men selflessly stepped forward to aid their peers and cooperate with emergency responders,” pagkilala ng BSP.

Samantala, hiling ng BSP sa publiko na maiging suriin ang mga binabasa nilang impormasyon online at iwasang mag-reshare ng mga maling detalye o misleading content na posibleng magdulot ng karagdagang sakit ng kalooban at pagkalito para sa iba.

“As we navigate this collective sorrow, we softly appeal to everyone to hold the community in care by exercising responsibility online. We earnestly urge the public to refrain from sharing unverified claims, false information, or misleading content that may cause further pain, confusion, or unfair judgment. Let us allow truth, compassion, and verified information to guide our conversations,” panawagan ng BSP.

Samantala, ipinaaabot ng BSP ang kanilang pakikidalamhati sa mga nabiktima ng trahedya at kanilang mga pamilya. 

“To the bereaved families, please know that you are not alone. The entire Scouting community grieves with you, prays with you, and stands beside you. May the victims rest in eternal peace, and may strength, comfort, and healing be granted to all those affected by this heartbreaking tragedy,” pakikiisa ng BSP. 

Matatandaang unang naiulat na mayroon ng tatlong estudyanteng nasawi mula sa pamamaril habang limang katao ang sugatan at kasalukuyan nang ginagamot sa ospital. 

Nabanggit din sa ulat na dalawang armadong lalaki ang nasa likod ng pamamaril, kung saan isa sa mga ito ang kinilalang 15 taong gulang at residente rin sa Tacloban City.
