Naghain ng Petition For Certiorari and Prohibition alinsunod sa Rule of Court ng Korte Suprema ang ilang mga miyembro ng Cayetano bloc at humiling din sila ng Status Quo Ante Order kaugnay sa pamumuno nina Senate President Pro Tempore Sen. Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian sa Senado at iba pa simula nang maganap ang quorum noong Hunyo 3, 2026. 

Matatandaang matagumpay na nakakuha ng quorum sa Senado ang 12 bilang ng mga senador noong Hunyo 3 at itinalaga bilang Senate President Pro Tempore at acting Senate President si Gatchalian dahilan para mabago mga chairmanship ng mga Komite na dating hawak ng mga miyembro ng Cayetano bloc. 

Sa isinumiteng petisyon ng mga miyembro ng Cayetano bloc sa Korte Suprema nitong Martes, Hunyo 15, sinabi nilang mariin daw nilang hindi pinapayagan ang malinaw na paglabag ng mga miyembro ng Gatchalian bloc sa Konstitusyon. 

“Petitioners will not allow their inaction to make permanent a clear violation of the Constitution,” anila. 

Dahil dito, hinihiling nila sa Korte Suprema na maglabas ng Status Quo Ante Order kung saan layunin nitong mausyami ang mga nakuhang liderato at pamumuno sa Komite ng mga miyembro ng Gatchalian bloc magmula noong Hunyo 3, 2026.

“All respondents, including Chairpersons of the Gatchalian bloc to immediately cease and desist from asserting and performing and continuing to assert and perform, functions and duties emanating from positions and offices obtained or vested during and by virtue of the proceedings on June 3, 2026,” giit nila. 

Anila, hinihiling din daw ng mga petitioner ng Cayetano bloc na huwag isulong ang mga resolusyong naaprubahan o naipasa magmula noong Hunyo 3, 2026. 

“All respondents not to enforce or implement measures or resolutions approved or passed during and by virtue of the proceedings on June 3, 2026,” ‘ika nila. 

Pagpapatuloy nila, dapat din daw na ituring ng mga kawani ng Senado na sina Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano ang ituturing pa rin na Senate President, si Sen. Loren Legarda pa rin ang ituturing na Senate President Pro Tempore, at si Atty. Jose Luis Montales pa rin daw ang mananatiling Senate Secretary hanggang hindi pa nakakapaglabas ng desisyon ang Korte Suprema. 

“All parties, Senate officers and personnel, to assume their positions and duties as of the time immediately prior to the proceedings on June 3, 2026, including petitioner Senator Cayetano as and being the Senate President, petitioner Senator Legarda as and being the Senate President Pro Tempore, and petitioner Atty. Montales as and being the Senate Secretary, as the duly constituted officers, in the meantime and for the duration of this Petition until resolved with finality,” pagtatapos nila. 

Sa kabila nito, matatandaang inihayag na ng Malacañang noong Hunyo 7, 2026, na ang paksyong pinamumunuan ni Gatchalian ang kinikilala nito at ng mga Ehekutibo sa gitna ng nagpapatuloy na sigalot sa Senado.
