Pinuri ng miyembro ng House Prosecution Panel at House Committee on Justice Chairperson Rep. Gerville Luistro ang Senado kaugnay sa pagko-convene nito bilang Senate Impeachment Court kaugnay sa impeachment case laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
Matatandaang opisyal na ring nanumpa ang lahat ng mga senador, maliban kay Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, para maging senator-judges sa impeachment trial laban sa Bise Presidente sa isinagawa nilang sesyon sa Senado noong Lunes, Mayo 18, 2026.
Ayon naman sa naging pahayag ni Luistro sa isinagawang press conference ng House Prosecution Panel nitong Martes, Mayo 19, kinumpirma niyang opisyal nang nag-convene ang Senado para maging Senate Impeachment Court bilang pagsunod daw sa mandato ng Konstitusyon.
“As we have witnessed yesterday, the Impeachment Court [has] already convened,” pagsisimula niya.
Dagdag pa niya, “We commend the action of the Senate of the Philippines for responding to the mandate of the Constitution.”

Paalala ni Luistro, dapat na tandaan ng Senado na mandato rin daw ng Konstitusyon na simulan na ang impeachment trial.
“Nevertheless, let us all be reminded that what is mandated to be forthwith is not only the convening. It is the trial that is mandated to be forthwith,” aniya.
Ani Luistro, inaasahan daw nila na gugulong na ang pre-trial, presentasyon sa mga testigo, presentasyon ng mga ebidensya, at paghahatol ng Senate Impeachment Court kapag natapos na ang impeachment trial laban kay VP Sara.
“We therefore look forward that after the pre-trial, we will immediately proceed with the presentation of the witnesses, presentation of evidence, and consequently to the judgement,” diin niya.
“By judgement, it’s only either acquittal or conviction,” pagtatapos pa niya.
