Ipinagdiinan ni Akbayan Party-list Rep. Chel Diokno na nararapat umanong gawin ng Senado ang kanilang “constitutional duty” sa impeachment proceedings laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.

Kasunod ito ng pag-impeach ng Kamara sa Pangalawang Pangulo nitong Lunes, Mayo 11, kung saan naitala ang botong 255-26-9, tanda ng ikalawang impeachment ng House of Representatives (HOR) kay VP Sara.

“IMPEACHED! 255 VOTES IN FAVOR,” panimula ni Diokno.

Aniya, “The Senate now must fulfill its constitutional duty to convene forthwith as an impeachment court once the Articles of Impeachment are transmitted.”

Giit ng kongresista, aantabayanan ng sambayanan ang proseso ng impeachment sa pangalawang pinakamataas na opisyal sa bansa, kahit sino pa man daw ang namumuno sa Senado.

“Kahit sino pa ang nakaupong lider ng Senado, mahigit na babantayan ng publiko ang proseso ng impeachment,” anang kongresista.

“The House has already done its job, and I hope the Senate will fulfill its constitutional duty under the 1987 Constitution to forthwith convene as an impeachment court once the articles of impeachment are transmitted to it,” dagdag pa niya.

Sa hiwalay na pahayag, nagsalita rin ang kapuwa kongresista ni Diokno na si Akbayan Party-list Rep. Perci Cendaña, ukol naman sa impeachment laban kay VP Sara kaugnay sa muling pagsipot ni Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa matapos hindi magpakita mula noong Nobyembre 2025.

“Kaloka! Matagal na absent at hindi nagtrabaho. Pumasok lang para mamulitika at ipagtanggol si Sara. Because they cannot muster a strong defense for VP Sara, they choose to prevent the trial from convening,” saad ni Cendaña.
