Nanawagan ang University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) na magsagawa ng malinaw at komprehensibong imbestigasyon sa estudyante nilang si Maureen Kiel Santuyo at Alyssa Alano na estudyante naman sa University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD).

Matatandaang kapuwa nasawi ang dalawa sa umano’y engkuwentro sa Negros Occidental kamakailan.

Si Maureen ay estudyante sa UPOU sa ilalim ng Associate of Arts samantalang si Alyssa naman ay political science student sa UPD.

Sa latest Facebook post ng UPOU nitong Sabado, Abril 25, naghayag sila ng pag-aalala kaugnay sa nangyaring military encounter.

Kaya anila, "We call for a transparent and thorough investigation, with full accountability if human rights violations are established."

“We urge sobriety in public discourse, especially in instances that promote the spread of unverified accusations and the labeling of members of the academic community without evidence,” dugtong pa ng .UPOU.

Kasabay nito, kinikilala ng unibersidad ang koneksyon ng engkuwentro sa malawak na suliraning panlipunan partikular sa usaping agraryo.

“As an open learning institution, we reaffirmed our commitment to contribute to the upliftment of disadvantaged Filipinos through accessible learning and to foster a learning environment where our students can think critically, engage with social issues, and contribute to empowering marginalized communities,” saad ng UPOU.

Sa huli, umapela ang unibersidad ng pakikiramay at para sa paghahanap ng katotohanan, pananagutan, at kapayapaan.
