Binatikos ni US President Donald Trump ang ilang kaalyadong bansa ng North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) matapos tumangging sumali sa military operation ng kanilang bansa kontra sa Iran.

Sa isang pahayag noong Martes, Marso 17, 2026, tinawag niyang “very foolish mistake” ang desisyon ng ilang NATO allies na hindi makibahagi sa naturang operasyon.

“I think NATO is making a very foolish mistake. And I've long said that, you know, I wonder whether or not NATO would ever be there for us... This was a great test because we don't need them but they should have been there,” ani Trump.

Dagdag pa niya, “Everyone agrees with us, but they don't want to help. And we, you know, we as the United States have to remember that because we think it's pretty shocking.”

Nauna nang nanawagan si Trump sa mga kaalyadong bansa na magpadala ng mga barko upang tumulong sa pagbubukas ng Strait of Hormuz, isang mahalagang ruta ng pandaigdigang kalakalan ng langis.

“The Countries of the World that receive Oil through the Hormuz Strait must take care of that passage, and we will help — A LOT!" ani Trump sa kaniyang social media post.

Hirit pa niya, “The U.S. will also coordinate with those Countries so that everything goes quickly, smoothly, and well."

Matatandaang kaunahan nang nagpahayag ng hindi pagpayag sa panawagan ni Trump ang gobyerno ng Japan at Australia.

"We have not made any decisions whatsoever about dispatching escort ships. We are continuing to examine what Japan can do independently and what can be done within the legal framework," ani Japan Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.

Saad naman ng gobyerno ng Australia, "We won't be sending a ship to the Strait of Hormuz. We know how incredibly important that is, but that's not something that we've been asked or that we're contributing to.”
