Naglabas ng pahayag si House Speaker Martin Romualdez hinggil sa naging patutsada ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na may balak umano siyang tumakbo sa 2028 presidential elections.

Sa isang pahayag nitong Biyernes ng gabi, Nobyembre 17, iginiit ni Romualdez na hindi umano ito ang panahon para sa politika dahil marami umanong isyu ang kinakailangang pagtuunan ng pansin sa bansa.

“I am grateful for the former President's engagement with the political discourse, and I understand the curiosity surrounding the 2028 elections. However, I believe it is important to focus on the present challenges facing our nation. We are currently dealing with significant economic, public health, and regional issues that demand our immediate attention,” pahayag ni Romualdez.

“Marami pang problema ang mga Pilipino na kailangang bigyan ng solusyon. Hindi eleksyon ang sagot sa sikmurang gutom,” dagdag pa niya.

Duterte sa pagtakbo umano ni Romualdez bilang pangulo: ‘Di ka mananalo’

Ayon pa kay Romualdez, prayoridad umano niya bilang speaker ng Kamara ang isulong ang “unity” at kolaborasyon sa lahat ng “political lines.”

“This is a time to put aside rumors and speculations about future elections and concentrate on what we can achieve together for the betterment of our country and the welfare of the Filipino people,” giit ni Romualdez.

“Regarding my personal political aspirations, I am currently committed to my role as Speaker and serving the needs of our nation. My focus is on the present responsibilities and not on future electoral possibilities.”

“I also wish to acknowledge the valuable contributions of our former president, Rodrigo Roa Duterte, and hope he continues to lend his support and expertise. His continued involvement is crucial as we strive to overcome the challenges we face. Our collective efforts are vital for the progress and prosperity of the Philippines,” saad pa niya.

Matatandaang muling iginiit ni dating Pangulong Duterte sa isang panayam sa “Gikan Sa Masa, Para sa Masa” ng SMNI noong Miyerkules, Nobyembre 15, na nagbabalak umano si Romualdez na tumakbo sa pagkapangulo.

“Romualdez, tatakbo ka na presidente? Hindi ka mananalo sa Leyte. Hanggang sa Leyte lang… dito sa side na Leyte kung saan ako pinanganak, ma-zero-zero ka doon. Lalo na Mindanao, lalo na Bisaya, lalo na mga Tagalog, galit sa inyo,” patutsada pa ng dating pangulo sa house speaker.

Bago ito, pinatutsadahan din kamakailan ni Duterte si Romualdez kung saan sinabi niyang magde-demand siya ng audit kung paano ginastos ni Romualdez ang pondo ng publiko kapag tumakbo raw ito bilang pangulo ng bansa sa susunod na eleksyon.
