Nangako si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. nitong Biyernes, Marso 3, na nakahanda ang pamahalaan na tulungan ang mga pamilyang apektado ng oil spill sa Oriental Mindoro.
Binanggit ito ng pangulo sa kaniyang Twitter post bago pa isailalim sa state of calamity ang Pola, Oriental Mindoro dahil sa pinsalang dulot ng oil spill mula sa lumubog na MT Princess Empress sa naturang probinsya.

“The government, through the @dswdserves, is prepared to provide various forms of assistance to families and individuals affected by the oil spill caused by the submerged MT Princess Empress in Oriental Mindoro,” tweet ni Marcos.

Pinangungunahan na rin umano ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) ang kanilang pag-monitor sa sitwasyon ng naturang insidente.
“Special attention will be given to the affected fisherfolks who will be losing their source of livelihood because of the oil spill,” saad ni Marcos.
Ayon pa sa pangulo, nakahanda na ring magkaloob ng suporta sa lokal na pamahalaan ang Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). Nakikipagtulungan na raw ang ahensya sa International Maritime Organization (IMO) at Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) para rito.
“We also thank the private corporations like Petron and Shell, who have offered their help by lending us the needed equipment to mitigate the impact of the oil spill,” ani Marcos.
“Earlier I also received from Gov. Humerlito “Bonz” Dolor his report on the local situation and how the national government will assist,” dagdag niya.
Matatandaang lumubog noong Martes, Pebrero 28, ang MT Princess Empress, ang oil tanker na may kargang 800,000 litro ng langis, sa Oriental Mindoro.
Dahil dito, nangitim ang mga apektadong baybayin at maraming isda ang namatay.
