PORMAL ng sinimulan kahapon ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) ang National Sports Summit 2021 sa pamamagitan ng isang lecture-forum kung paanong gagamitin ng isang local government units (LGU’s) ang kanilang potensiyal sa pag-uorganisa ng mga sports events at festivals.

Naging tagapagsalita si Giovanni Gulanes, ang head ng Davao del Norte Sports and Youth Development Office, para sa paksang “Sports in Local Governments (A Model System)”.

Ganap na nagsimula ang online summit ganap na 1:00 ng hapon.

“We showcased DavNor as a model. Hopefully, it could inspire other leaders and coordinators from different LGUs to pursue their own sports development programs” wika ni PSC Chairman William Ramirez.

Ibinahagi ni Gulanes ang kanilang sikreto sa naging tagumpay ng DavNor’s sa nakaraan nilang hostings ng mga multisport festivals gaya ng Palarong Pambansa at Batang Pinoy gayundin ang matagumpay at epektibong implementasyon ng kanilang sports program.

Naging tampok sa tinalakay ni Gulanes ang tatlong sports policies ng kanilang lalawigan na - TRAIN (Talent Reinforcement and Intensification), COMPETE (Complementary Projects for Exposure in Tournaments and Events) at HOST (Holistic Organizing of Sports Tournaments).

Samantala, mismong ang Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang nagbukas ng virtual.summit kasama sina Senate Committee on Youth and Sports Chairman Christopher “Bong” Go, House Committee on Youth and Sports Committee head John Marvin “Yul Servo” Nieto at Department of Education Secretary Leonor Briones.
