Hinimok ng Malacañang ang mga Pilipino na magpatay ng ilaw at makibahagi sa taunang Earth Hour upang ipamalas ang pagnanais ng Pilipinas na maisalba ang kalikasan.
Sa isang pahayag, hinikayat ni Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo ang publiko na makibahagi sa taunang event na layuning isulong ang kamulatan sa pangangailangang kumilos ang lahat laban sa climate change, at itaguyod ang pagkonsumo ng sustainable energy.

“March 30 tonight, we will join the rest of the world in switching off our lights for Earth Hour,” sabi ni Panelo.
“This year’s observance of Earth Hour focuses on the issue of single-use plastics, which is a major problem in the country. A United Nations report shows the Philippines as one of the top five contributors of plastic waste in the world’s oceans.
“We therefore call on everyone to cut down the rampant use of plastics as we continue to aspire for a clean, safe and healthy environment,” dagdag niya.
Gugunitain ngayong taon ang ika-12 Earth Hour, na unang idinaos sa Sydney, Australia, taong 2007, ayon sa organizer na World Wide Fund for Nature.
