NAKAPAG-UWI ng pitong medalya – limang ginto, isang pilak at isang bronze – ang Team Philippines na binubuo ng mga estudyante ng Cavite sa katatapos na Kaoshiung Speaker Cup Chess Competition sa Kaohsiung Sports Complex Stadium sa Kaoshiung, Taiwan.

Nagpakitang gilas sina Gabrielle Anne Perez, 11-years-old, grade 6 pupil ng Haven of Virtue Excellence Academy Inc., ( E4-1 category), Jan Dhave Marquez, 11, grade 6 pupil ng Haven of Virtue Excellence Academy Inc., (E5-3 category), Gwyneth Melody Perez, 14, grade 9 pupil ng Samuel Christian College (D4-1 category), Mark Vincent Nuella, 14, grade 9 ng Haven of Virtue Excellence Academy Inc., (D4-5 category), Christian Jake Sace, 15, grade 10 pupil ng Tanza Comprehensive National High School (Open category) ang nag-uwi ng gintong medalya habang nag-ambag naman si Jerome Gunao, 15, grade 10 pupil Haven ng Virtue Excellence Academy Inc., (Open category) ng pilak habang si Jannaiah Chloei Tiaga, 7, grade 2 pupil ng Haven of Virtue Excellence Academy Inc., (F2-1 category) ang nagbulsa naman ng tansong medalya sa four nations (USA, China, Philippines at host Taiwan) tournament.

Sa Mayor's Cup Chess Competition sa Taichung, Taiwan, nagwagi sina Gabrielle Anne at Gwyneth Melody Perez ng gintong medalya sa Under 12 at Under 14 division, ayon sa pagkakasunod habang sina Jan Dhave Marquez at Mark Vincent Nuella ay nanalo naman ng tansong medalya sa Under 12 at Under 14 category at si Jannaiah Chloei Tiaga ay tumapos ng 5th place sa Under 8 class. Ang PH team mula Cavite ay ginabayan nina Prima Santos Perez at coach Luffe Magdalaga kung saan masisilayan muli ang PH youth team sa kanilang susunod na international tournament sa Taipei, Taiwan sa Disyembre 22-27, 2018.

Ang kanilang partisipasyon ay mula sa efforts ni Fide Arbiter Red Dumuk, ang executive director ng National Chess Federation of the Philippines na suportado ng Philippine Sports Commission, Haven of Virtue Excellence Academy Inc., Samuel Christian College at ng Tanza Comprehensive National High School.
