LEGAZPI CITY – Ipinag-utos ng mga awtoridad sa Legazpi City, Albay ang pagpapauwi sa lahat ng bakwit na nakatira sa labas ng eight-kilometer extended danger zone upang maresolba ang problema sa pagsisikip ng mga evacuation center.

Sinabi ni Claudio Yucot, director ng Office of Civil Defense (OCD)-Region 5, na inirekomenda na niya sa Albay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office na tukuyin ang mga pamilyang nakatira sa extended danger zone.

“We have seen how congested some of the evacuation centers and based on our discussions with volcanologists, it is safe to send those living outside the extended danger zone back to their homes,” sabi ni Yucot.

“So, this is a solution that we see because they are going back to their homes anyway. And we understand that because there is really no substitute to the comfort of your home,” aniya pa.

Ang ideal ratio ng silid-aralan sa mga bakwit ay isang silid sa kada walo hanggang 10 pamilya, subalit sa ngayon ay mayroong 20-20 pamilya sa kada classroom.

“We immediately met with the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology and they told us that those living within the nine and 10 kilometers away from the crater are already safe,” ani Yucot.

Batay sa rekomendasyon ng OCD, susunduin ng mga truck ng pulisya, militar, at mga lokal na pamahalaan ang mga bakwit mula sa mga evacuation center para ihatid sa kani-kanilang bahay.
