Sinabi ni Presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella na nagpapasalamat ang gobyerno ng Pilipinas sa suporta ng US military sa pagsupil sa teroristang Maute Group sa Marawi City at patuloy na makikipagtulungan dahil sa patuloy na bansa ng Islamic State.
“While we have defeated the Maute group here, it cannot be denied that IS remains a global threat,” ani Abella sa press briefing sa Malacanang kahapon.
Nauna rito, binati ni US Defense Secretary James Mattis ang Armed Forces of the Philippines sa tagumpay nito laban sa Maute Group sa Marawi City. Sinabi ni Mattis, dumalo sa regional defense meeting sa Clark, Pampanga, na iyon ay “tough fight” at ang mga sundalong Pilipino ay nagbigay ng “very strong message” sa mga terorista.

Pinasalamatan ni Abella si Mattis sa pagkilala sa “valiant efforts of our troops” para mawakasan ang terror siege sa Marawi City. Kinilala rin niya ang tulong na ibinigay ng Amerika sa pagalaban sa mga terorsita.
“The government is grateful for the US government for helping us defeat the ambition of the Islamic State affiliated group to establish a caliphate in our country,” aniya.
