Sinabi ni government (GRP) negotiating peace panel chair Silvestre Bello III na ikinalulugod nila ang suporta ng National Democratic Front (NDF) at ang deklarasyon nito kamakailan na umiwas sa pakikipagsagupa sa mga militar at pulisya, kasabay ng pahayag na tatapatan ng gobyerno ang deklarasyong ito ng New People’s Army (NPA) sa Mindanao.

Sa pahayag na inilabas sa website ng Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace Process (OPAPP) kahapon, sinabi ni Bello na ang deklarasyon ng magkabilang panig na umiwas na magkasagupa ang kani-kanilang puwersa ay magbibigay-daan “for the eventual signing of a mutually agreed bilateral ceasefire agreement and agreements on social and economic reforms, political and constitutional reforms and end of hostilities and disposition of forces towards a just and lasting peace.”

Sinabi niya na ang “voluntary gestures and expressions” ng NDF na suportahan ang pakikipaglaban ng gobyerno sa mga teroristang grupong Maute, Abu Sayyaf, Ansar al-Khalifah Philippines, ay magandang senyales para sa hinahangad na pagpapatuloy ng naudlot na ikalimang serye ng mga pag-uusap.

Nitong Hunyo 16, 2017, sinabi ni NDFP chair Fidel V. Agcaoili na inirekomenda niya sa Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) na itigil ng komunistang puwersa ang mga opensiba laban sa mga puwersa ng pamahalaan ngunit panatilihin ang kanilang defensive operations laban sa Maute, Abu Sayyaf, at Ansar Al Khilafah Philippines (AKP).

“For all forces to be able to concentrate against Maute, Abu Sayyaf and AKP groups, the NDFP has recommended to the CPP to order all other NPA units in Mindanao to refrain from carrying out offensive operations against the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP), provided that the GRP order the AFP and PNP likewise to refrain from carrying out offensive operations against the NPA and people’s militia,” aniya.
