TAGOLOAN, Misamis Oriental – Kinumpiska ng mga tauhan ng Bureau of Customs (BoC)-Region 10 ang 320 drum ng hydrochloric acid, na ginagamit sa paggawa ng methamphetamine o shabu, na ibiniyahe mula sa India patungo sa Mindanao Container Terminal sa sub-port sa Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental.
Hiniling ang warrant of seizure and detention para sa mga kemikal na ibiniyahe sa apat na container makaraang matuklasan na nabigo ang consignee na Juchem Enterprises, na nakabase sa Butuan City, na makapagprisinta ng mahahalagang import permit at licenses.
Kinilala ang broker ng kargamento na si Abel Avergonzado, ng Davao City.
Sinabi ni Intelligence Officer II Alvin Enciso, OIC ng Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) ng Cagayan de Oro, na batay sa resulta ng paunang inspeksiyon sa kargamento nitong Martes, ang mga ito ay “restricted or regulated item without import permit or clearance.”

“It is considered a dangerous chemical if it goes to the wrong hands. It is one of the essential elements or chemicals used in making shabu,” sabi ni Enciso.
Iginiit naman ng Juchem Enterprises na ang mga nasabing kemikal ay isu-supply sa isang kumpanya ng minahan, ngunit bineberipika pa ito ng Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) at CIIS.
“But, just the same, PDEA is preparing to file cases against this importer. As per instruction from Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon and Deputy Commissioner Teddy Raval, and as communicated by the new director of CIIS, Neil Anthony Estrella, that the shipment be opened immediately,” ani Enciso.
