Buong pagmamalaking ibinida ni Top Rank big boss Bob Arum na tagumpay ang pay-per-view show ng laban nina eight-division world titlist Manny Pacquiao at Jessie Vargas kahit wala ang ayuda ng HBO.

Sinabi ni Arum sa USA TODAY Sports na nakabenta ang Pacquiao-Vargas pay-per-view ng “a little over 300,000” PPVs na halos katulad ng PPV hits ng laban ng Pinoy boxer sa ikatlong pagsagupa kay dating WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley noong nakaraang Abril sa ilalim ng HBO.

“Why would we need HBO Pay-Per-View going forward?” tanong ni Arum. “What do they add that we weren’t able to do ourselves. I think the fact there was no delay helped the numbers.”

Bagama’t hindi pa ito kumpleto, masasabing tagumpay ang Top Rank sa Pacquiao-Vargas bout kaya tiyak na hindi na nila pahahawakan sa HBO ang susunod nilang malalaking promosyon.

“We presented a great show,” dagdag ni Arum. “We made money. Everybody made money. You don’t hit a home run every time. We hit a single or a double. I’m very pleased.”

Hahabulin ngayon ng Top Rank ang lahat ng Facebook subscribers na illegal na nanood ng laban sa paggamit ng Facebook Live.

“We have piracy lawyers. … We’re on that,” diin ni Arum. “It’s a recurring problem on the stealing. But we trace it down and we go after the people and we get compensation.” (Gilbert Espeña)
