Nakikipagkoordinasyon na sa Philippine Permanent Mission sa United Nations (UN) sa Geneva si UN rights rapporteur Agnes Callamard, ayon sa Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

Si Callamard na nagpapakita ng interes na silipin ang sitwasyon ng human rights sa Pilipinas, ay nakikipag-ugnayan na sa tanggapan ni Ambassador Celia Rebong, pagkumpirma ni Ambassador to Malaysia Charles Jose.

“UN Special Rapporteur Agnes Callamard is coordinating with our Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva the details of her visit to the Philippines,” ayon sa text message ni Jose, nang tanunging kung tinanggap ba ni Callamard ang imbitasyon ng pamahalaang Duterte, sa kabila ng mga kondisyong inilatag ng Pangulo.

Una nang sinabi ni Callamard na natanggap niya noong Oktubre 24 ang letter of invitation ng pamahalaan na nilagdaan ni Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea.

Samantala kaakibat ng imbitasyon ang kondisyong dapat magpabusisi rin si Callamard at hayaang kuwestiyunin ang kanyang findings sa extrajudicial killings at summary executions sa bansa.

“She must subject herself also to scrutiny and give the opportunity to our President to rebut her allegations and findings in public and before media and the Filipino public. If she will not accept the conditions under which the President had invited her, I don’t think she should come because she cannot harbor the impression that the invitation was made on the basis of the protocols that the UN Commission on Human Rights have established for this purpose,” ayon kay Foreign Affairs Sec. Perfecto Yasay.
