Aabot P1.2 milyong halaga ng livelihood project ang ipinagkaloob na tulong sa mahigit 300 magsasaka ng agrarian reform beneficiaries sa tatlong munisipalidad sa Quirino.

Mula sa programa ng pamahalaan na Grassroots Participatory Budgeting ng Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), isang memorandum of agreement (MOA) ang nilagdaan nila Nagtipunan Mayor Rosario Camma at Chairman Pedro Pandongit ng Quirino Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (QFMPCO) para sa furniture project na nagkakahalaga ng P200,000.

Ayon kay DAR Regional Director Atty. Marjorie Ayson ang QFMPCO, mayroon nang ipinalabas na Certificate of Tree Plantation Ownership at Tree Cutting Permit ang Department of Environment & Natural Resources (DENR) para sa 45-ektaryang lupain.

“This tree plantation, planted with Gemelina trees, would be the source of lumber for their furniture-making project,” ayon kay Ayson .

Kabilang sa nakahanay na proyekto, ayon Madella Mayor Renato Ylanan at Jonel Cabungcal ng Cofcaville Upland Farmers Association (CUFA), ay ang muscovado sugar production na nagkakahalaga ng P679,000.00.

Sinabi ni Ayson, ang muscovado sugar business ng CUFA ay nakatayo na sa kasalukuyan. “The P679,000.00 grant from DAR will be used to construct a processing center for the muscovado sugar business. At the same time, the center can also be used for product enhancement and other activities for the members of the farmer members of CUFA,” dagdag pa ni Ayson.
