Opisyal nang idineklara ng Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Dinagat Islands ang province-wide state of calamity sa buong probinsya bunsod ng epektong dala ng Super El Niño.
Sa pahayag na inilabas ni Governor Nilo Demerey Jr. sa kaniyang Facebook page nitong Huwebes, Agosto 27, sinabi niyang kasunod daw ito ng rekomendasyong ibinaba ng Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) Technical Working Group, dahil sa nararanasang “severe water crisis” sa probinsya dulot ng Super El Niño.
“The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of the Province of Dinagat Islands officially declared a province-wide State of Calamity following the recommendation of the PDRRMC Technical Working Group - led by Governor Nilo P. Demerey Jr, due to a severe water crisis driven by prolonged dry conditions and Super El Niño,” mababasa sa nasabing pahayag.
Sa anunsyo namang inilabas ng Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Dinagat Islands nito ring Huwebes, nakataas na ang price freeze sa lahat ng pangunahing produkto at pangangailangan sa buong lalawigan.
“Consumers are reminded that during a declared state of calamity or emergency, the prices of covered Basic Necessities are automatically frozen at their current levels, as stipulated under the Price Act (RA 7581, as amended by R.A 10623),” saad ng DTI Dinagat Islands sa kanilang anunsyo.
Anila pa, “Covered basic necessities include: rice, corn, root crops, bread; fish and other marine products; fresh pork, beef, and poultry; eggs; potable water; milk; fruits and vegetables; instant noodles; coffee; sugar; cooking oil; salt; laundry soap and detergents; firewood; charcoal; LPG and kerosene; candles; and essential drugs classified by the DOH.”
Anang ahensya, “in effect” ang price freeze hangga’t nagpapatuloy ang nasabing kondisyon—ngunit hindi raw ito dapat tumagal ng 60 araw, maliban kung agad itong i-lift ng Pangulo.
“The price freeze remains in effect for as long as the condition that caused it persists, but not exceeding 60 days, unless the President lifts it sooner,” anang ahensya.
“For fully imported and deregulated basic necessities, such as household LPG and kerosene, the price freeze shall last no more than 15 days, considering current inventory or supply levels,” pagtatapos ng DTI.
