Nakataas sa “blue alert” ang disaster response operations ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) dahil sa nalalapit na pagpasok ng bagyong “Saudel” sa Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Sa pahayag na ibinahagi ni DSWD Disaster Response and Management Group Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao nitong Linggo, Agosto 23, patuloy ang koordinasyon at pakikipag-ugnayan ng kanilang ahensya sa iba’t ibang lokal na pamahalaan at iba pang government agency hinggil sa bagong weather system.
“Although the alert status has been lowered, the DSWD continues to monitor and coordinate with various government agencies and local governments that need assistance due to the previous storms and enhanced southwest monsoon,” saad ni Dumlao.
Aniya pa, “The DSWD is also ready to respond to any possible effects of the new weather disturbance outside the PAR.”
Hinikayat din niya ang publiko na maghanda at makinig sa mga abisong ibababa ng awtoridad.

“We urge the public to remain prepared and listen to the advisories and instructions of their local officials to avoid any untoward incidents that may be caused by bad weather,” ani Dumlao.
Sa oras na pumasok sa PAR ang bagyong Saudel, papangalanan itong “Obet,” na inaasahang babagtasin ang northeastern boundary ng bansa sa darating na Lunes, Agosto 24.
Ayon naman sa ulat ng Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) nito ring Linggo, posible itong maging super typhoon bago pa man ganap na makapasok sa PAR.
Gayunpaman, hindi naman daw nito direktang maaapektuhan ang bansa—ngunit maaari nitong paigitngin ang southwest monsoon o “habagat,” na siyang posibleng magpaulan sa kanlurang bahagi ng Luzon at Visayas.
Batay sa pakahulugang ibinigay ng Civil Defense National Capital Region (NCR), tinitiyak ng “blue alert status” na may “enhanced coordination” sa pagitan ng mga ahensya.
Sa panahon ding ito, tuloy-tuloy ang monitoring at pag-uulat hinggil sa mga posibleng maganap sa gitna ng isang weather disturbance.
“The Blue alert status ensures enhanced inter-agency coordination, with response clusters, LGUs, and the Regional Inter-Agency Coordinating Cell on standby. Throughout this period, continuous reporting and monitoring are also in place to enable prompt response and public safety,” saad ng Civil Defense NCR.
