Pinaalalahanan ng Department of Education (DepEd) ang mga guro na maging propesyonal sa paggamit ng social media.
Ginawa ng DepEd ang paalala sa isang Memorandum Circular na may petsang Agosto 11, 2026 at pirmado ni Undersecretary Fatima Panontongan, matapos na makatanggap ng mga report hinggil sa social media posts na kinasasangkutan ng mga guro at school personnel na hindi umano naaayon sa standards of professionalism ng ahensiya.
“The use of personal social media accounts does not, by itself, dispense with the professional and ethical standards applicable to DepEd personnel, particularly where the content is connected with the performance of their official functions, identifies or represents them as DepEd personnel, or involves learners, school activities, or school premises,” ani Panontongan sa circular.
Dagdag pa ng DepEd, ang lahat ng tauhan ng DepEd ay inaasahang mag-e-exercise ng ‘professionalism, prudence, at sound judgment’ sa kanilang online activities.
“These reports highlight the need to exercise appropriate judgment and responsibility in the use of social media, particularly where online activities involve learners, classroom activities, school premises, or otherwise arise from the performance of official functions,” anito pa.

Samantala, ang mga guro na nakikipag-interaksiyon naman sa mga estudyante ay hinimok ng ahensiya na maging maingat sa pagpu-post ng kanilang trabaho na kinasasangkutan ng kanilang mga mag-aaral, lalo na’t ang educators anila ang may awtoridad sa mga ito.
Nagpaalala rin naman ang DepEd sa mga guro na huwag magpaskil ng online attacks laban sa kapwa empleyado ng DepEd, at idinagdag na hindi nila maaaring sirain ang reputasyon ng ahensiya.
