Isiniwalat ng Department of Education (DepEd) na aabot sa 2,424 classrooms sa iba’t ibang paaralan sa ilang mga rehiyon sa bansa ang na-damage matapos ang pananalasa ng Tropical Storm (TS) Maymay at southwest monsoon o habagat.

Batay sa situation report na ibinahagi ng DepEd sa kanilang Facebook page nitong Linggo, Agosto 9, kung saan cited ang datos mula sa Incident Management Reporting System (IMRS), aabot sa 1,516 ang minor damaged classrooms; 505 ang major damaged classrooms; habang 403 naman ang totally damaged classrooms.

Anang source, mula sa Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR); Rehiyon 1; Rehiyon 2; Rehiyon 3; Rehiyon IV-A at B; Rehiyon 6; Rehiyon 8; at Rehiyon 12 ang mga nasabing silid-aralan.

Ayon pa sa IMRS, kinakailangan ng ₱13,718,000 bilang pondo para sa clean-up and clearing operations (CUCO) ng 505 affected schools—habang ₱74,284,000 naman para sa minor repair (MR) ng 1,516 minor damaged classrooms.

“The DepEd DRRMS initiated the processing of CUCO and MR funds for the repair of damaged classrooms and cleaning and clearing operations to support learning continuity. The Department of Education remains committed to ensuring the safety, well-being, and continuous learning of all students and staff,” saad ng DepEd.
