Binigyang parangal sa 2026 Doc Edge Festival sa New Zealand ang Filipino animated documentary film na “58th,” na tumalakay sa malagim na istorya ng Maguindanao Massacre noong 2009.
Naiuwi ng documentary film na “58th” ang “Facing the Edge Award” dahil sa matapang na pagtalakay sa naging buhay at pagkasawi ng ika-58 na biktimang si Reynaldo “Bebot” Momay, isang photojournalist, mula sa testimonya ng kaniyang anak na si Reynafe Castillo.
Ang parangal ay tinanggap ni GMA Pictures Executive Vice President at GMA Public Affairs Senior Vice President, Nessa Valdello.
Sa kaniyang mensahe, inialay niya ang pagkilala sa mga nabiktima ng Maguindanao Massacre, kanilang naulilang pamilya, at ang crew sa likod ng documentary.
“This is for the 58 victims of the Maguindanao Massacre and their families especially for photojournalist Bebot Momay whose body was not found and is still not officially recognized in this case,” saad ni Valdellon.

“This is for Director Carl Papa who found his courage while making the film. And for the already very brave Nenen Momay Castillo who shared her story. Finally this is for Johnson Tam, Ian Simbulan and my public affairs team back home who have for decades been making television docs and are finally making documentaries for the whole world to see. This is our first doc festival win and it means so much to us. Thank you Doc Edge! ,” dagdag pa niya.
Bukod sa pagrepresenta ng GMA Network sa pagkuha ng parangal, si Valdellon ay nagsilbi ring Wayfinder sa Doc Edge Pitch, kung saan, siya ay nagturo sa documentary filmmakers upang maging mas epektibo ang kanilang mga proyektong gagawin.
Sa kaugnay na ulat, ang “58th” ay napabilang din sa “Top 10 Audience Choice Films” sa 2026 International Film Festival Rotterdam sa The Netherlands.
Napabilang din ito sa official selection sa 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival sa France.
