Wala umanong duda si Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. sa kakayahan ni Sen. Chiz Escudero kung siya man ang ihalal ng Senado bilang presiding officer sa gaganaping impeachment trial laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
Sa isinagawang Kapihan with the Media sa Kazan, Russia noong Huwebes, Hunyo 18, iginiit ni PBBM na ang mga rules umano na in-adopt ng Senado sa naunang impeachment trial laban kay VP Sara ay isinulat ni Sen. Escudero.
“As a matter of fact, the rules that were adopted by the Senate were the rules that Senator Chiz wrote during the last year's impeachment, when they were handling the last year's impeachment complaint,” saad ni PBBM.
“So, in terms of his ability to be able to run the trial, I don't think that's in doubt,” giit niya.
Pagpapaalala ng Pangulo, labas umano sa isyu ng nagdaang impeachment trial noong nakaraang taon ang nabanggit na mambabatas.
“If you remember, the reason that the impeachment trial last year came to stop was because of the Supreme Court (SC) decision, and that has nothing to do with Senator Chiz,” anang Pangulo.
Gayumpaman, inilahad din niya sa parehong panayam na kahit sinuman ang piliin ng Senado na magiging presiding officer ay susuportahan niya.
“I will support whoever the Senate chooses. As long as the process that they undertook in making the choice is proper, is legal, is constitutional, then that’s fine with me,” saad ni PBBM.
“We will definitely do whatever we can to work together with the legislature—with the Senate in particular—to make sure that things go smoothly, and that we move away from the chaos that we have been seeing in the Senate,” dagdag pa niya.
