Nananawagan ng hustisya ang National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) para sa nasawing radio broadcaster na si Nestor Micator.
Matatandaang napaulat ang pagkasawi ni Micator noong gabi ng Huwebes, Mayo 21, sa labas mismo ng barangay hall ng Fort Pikit, lalawigan ng Cotabato, matapos itong barilin sa ulo ng hindi pa nakikilalang salarin.
Batay sa ibinahaging pahayag ng NUJP kamakailan, si Micator ang ikalabing-isang mamamahayag na namatay sa ilalim ng administrasyong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.
“The National Union of Journalists of the Philippines calls for justice for the killing of radio broadcaster Nestor Micator,” panimula ng NUJP.Anila, “According to police reports, Micator was shot dead by an assailant on the evening of May 21 outside the barangay hall of Barangay Fort Pikit, Cotabato.”
“Micator is the 11th journalist killed under the Marcos Jr. administration. Even as two of the killings have been initially declared as not work related by the police, the fact remains that none of these murders have been fully resolved. While four suspects behind two of these killings have been arrested, no mastermind has been brought to justice. Micator should not add to the list of these unresolved cases,” dagdag pa nila.
Giit pa ng NUJP, ang pagpaslang sa mamamahayag ay tanda umano ng palpak na pagprotekta ng administrasyon sa media workers sa bansa.
“The killing of Micator is proof that impunity persists and the Marcos Jr. administration has failed substantially to protect journalists and media workers. The NUJP stands in solidarity with the family, friends and colleagues of Micator in their search for justice,” anang NUJP.
Samantala, tinitingnan pa kung may posibleng kinalaman ba sa pagiging mamahayag ni Micator ang nasabing pagpatay.
