Nilinaw sa publiko ng student council ng Assumption College ang dahilan sa apela nilang tanggalin ang portrait ni Sen. Loren Legarda sa kanilang Wall of Empowered Women.
Nagtapos ng elementarya at sekundarya si Legarda sa Assumption College San Lorenzo o sa pangalan nitong Assumption Convent noon.
Ayon sa inilabas na pahayag ng Assumption Student Council - College sa kanilang Facebook page noong Biyernes, Mayo 15, 2026, sinabi nilang nag-ugat ang desisyon nilang ito nang maganap ang kudeta sa Senado, naging pagboto rito ni Legarda, at mapalitan ni Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano si dating Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III noong Lunes, Mayo 11.
Pagdidiin nila, tila raw may kaugnayan ang naganap na kudeta para pabagalin o mabahiran ng politika ang pagdating ng articles of impeachment laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte sa Senado.
“No public office grants immunity from the standards of ethical conduct. Any act that enables impunity and obstruction of justice, however subtle or procedural, diminishes public trust, and compromises the dignity of institutions that serve the Filipino people,” paglilinaw nila.

Buwelta nila, naghuhubog daw ang kanilang pamantasan ng mga lider na inaasahang kikilos nang may integridad, may pananagutan sa publiko, at may paninindigan kapag pumasok na ang mga ito sa public service.
“Assumption College San Lorenzo forms leaders who are expected to act with integrity, exercise social responsibility, and uphold courage of conviction. These are standards instilled from Basic Education through Higher Education, and define the conduct expected of every Assumptionista who enters public service,” anila.
Dahil umano rito, mariing naninindigan ang Assumption College sa petisyon na maisulong ang articles of impeachment sa Senado at hindi ito maunsiyami.
Pagpapatuloy nila, umaapela sila kay Legarda na balikan ang prinsipyo nito bilang naging mag-aaral ng Assumption College at bilang modelo sa publiko.
“It is in this spirit that the Council calls upon Senator Legarda to reflect on the principles she once upheld as a student and as a public figure. She is encouraged to clarify her actions, correct her course, and demonstrate renewed commitment to accountability and justice,” saad nila.
“The Council maintains that a place on this wall is an honor reserved for women who continuously embody Assumption's ideals in action and character, and only those who do so will ever belong there,” pagtatapos pa nila.
Samantala, habang sinusulat ito, wala pa namang inilalabas na tugon, reaksyon, o pahayag si Legarda kaugnay rito.
