Inanunsyo ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) ang matagumpay nilang pagsagawa ng birth verification ng higit 29,000 senior citizens sa buong bansa upang matiyak ang mas episyente at mabilis na pagkuha nila ng mga benepisyo mula sa pamahalaan. 

Batay sa inilabas na pahayag ng PSA, as of April 20, tinatayang 29, 546 application ng senior citizens ang kanilang naiproseso, alinsunod sa Republic Act No. 11982 o ang “Centenarians Act of 2016,” upang mas mapalawig ang cash gifts para sa mga Pilipinong nasa edad 80, 85, at 95, naninirahan man sa Pilipinas o sa ibang bansa. 

"We want to make sure that senior citizens, especially those who may not have had the opportunity to register their births earlier, receive proper assistance to formally establish their legal identity and receive the benefits the Philippine government has allotted to them,” ani PSA Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa sa nasabing pahayag. 

“Our regional and provincial offices are working tirelessly to bring PSA's services closer to the grassroots, particularly to our senior citizens who deserve the recognition and support from the government," dagdag pa niya. 

Bukod sa pagpapalawig ng “Expanded Centenarians' Act,” ang pagpapaigting ng verification process ay nagtitiyak na maiiwasan ang panganib ng panloloko habang pinalalakas ang social protection sa pagpapaabot ng mga benepisyo.

"In partnership with implementing agencies such as the National Commission of senior citizens, the PSA extends help to ensure the efficient use of government resources for social protection programs. At the same time, this verification process for our senior citizens reinforces the integrity of our civil registry system," paliwanag ni Mapa. 

Sa kasalukuyan, patuloy na nananawagan ang PSA sa lahat ng qualified senior citizens, kanilang mga kaanak, at mga awtorisadong representante na makipag-ugnayan sa kanila upang matiyak ang agarang paglalabas ng birth records at mas pinadaling access sa mga benepisyo mula sa pamahalaan.
