Nilagdaan na ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. ang pansamantalang suspensyon sa excise tax ng Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) at kerosene, kasunod ang patuloy na pagsirit ng presyo ng produktong petrolyo sa pandaigdigang merkado.
Base sa inisyung Executive Order No. 114 ni PBBM, nakaangkla raw ang suspensyon ng excise tax sa mga piling petroleum products sa Section 148 of Republic Act (RA) No. 8424, o ang “National Internal Revenue Code of 1997 (NIRC).”
Batay pa sa nabanggit na EO, tatlong buwan ang effectivity ng suspensyon ng excise tax sa LPG at kerosene.
Matatandaang kamakailan, isiniwalat ni Department of Finance (DOF) Undersecretary Karlo Fermin Adriano na posible umanong pumalo sa ₱4.1 bilyon ang expected losses ng gobyerno sa pagsuspinde ng excise tax para sa naturang produkto.
“For LPG and kerosene, if you take a look at the law, it’s a maximum of three months muna—so let’s talk about three months. In assuming 100 USD price per barrel on average, so for full suspension of LPG and kerosene, the losses will be around ₱4.1 billion for three months, saad ni Adriano sa isinagawang press briefing ng Presidential Communications Office (PCO) kamakailan.
