Nagsama-sama ang cybersecurity at digital advocacy group para ihayag ang kanilang suporta sa Kontektadong Pinoy Bill.
Nilalayon ng panukalang batas na pataasin ang kompetisyon sa mga service provider na makapagbibigay ng mas maraming data access option sa mapapaunlad ang internet service sa Pilipinas.
Kaya sa latest Facebook post ng Go Digital Philippines nitong Sabado, Hulyo 12, sinabi nila malaking hakbang umano ang Konektadong Pinoy Bill para sa pagbuo ng mas inklusibo at competitive na digital economy.
“It empowers consumers through better service standards and strengthens the ability of small businesses, startups, and communities to participate meaningfully in the digital space,” saad ng grupo.
“However,” pasubali nila, “we urge Congress to exclude any data localization or sovereignty provisions in the final version of the law. Requiring that data be stored or processed only within Philippine territory will drive up business costs, disrupt operations, and limit access to technologies such as cloud computing and Al. This would hurt SMEs, deter investment, and weaken the competitiveness of the Philippine IT-BPM and digital sectors.”
Dagdag pa ng grupo, “Data security is not about where data is stored, it is about how it is protected.”
Inaasahan umano nilang maipapasa ang panukalang batas at inihayag din nila sa huli ang kagustuhan nilang makipagtulungan sa gobyerno kaugnay sa bagay na ito.
