May mensahe ang isang opisyal ng Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) sa mga kabataang may human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
Panawagan ni Bishop Oscar Jaime Florencio, Vice Chairman ng CBCP-Episcopal Commission on Health Care, sa mga kabataang may HIV na huwag matakot humingi ng tulong at sumailalim sa pagsusuri laban sa HIV at AIDS upang maagapan ang kanilang kalagayan.
“Actually. we know that already (I mean the HIV/AIDS rise), as reported to us. But the problem is that these people don't come out in the open because of the stigma or shame that they have this HIV/AIDS,” ayon kay Florencio.
“I hope this message goes clear to our young people: Don't be afraid to come out and avail of the intervention that the episcopal commission on health care is doing. We know that you are part of the Church we serve and love. We want to reach out and be cured,” dagdag pa ng obispo.
Matatandaang una nang kinumpirma ng Department of Health (DOH) na tumaas ng hanggang 500% ang bilang ng mga kabataang dinapuan ng HIV.
