Hindi muna pinangalanan ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. ang kaniya raw napipisil na maging bagong Philippine National Police (PNP) chief sa Hunyo.
Sa panayam ng media kay PBBM noong Martes, Mayo 27, 2025, inilarawan na lamang ng Pangulo ang susunod umanong PNP chief.
“Well, what will I tell the new chief PNP? The new chief PNP is a very senior officer in the PNP. He knows the situation. And I will actually tell them, carry on what you are doing. Because we have very good statistics concerning crime,” anang Pangulo.
Sa Hunyo 7 inaasahang magreretiro si PNP Chief Rommel Marbil kung saan ayon sa kaniya, posible raw pumalit sa kaniya ay isa kina: Lieutenant General Robert Rodriguez, deputy chief for operations; Lieutenant General Edgar Alan Okubo, chief of the directorial staff; Police Major General Nicolas Torre III, chief of the Criminal Investigation; and Detection Group at Police Major General Anthony Aberin, chief of the National Capital Region Police Office.

Iginiit din ni PBBM na sa kaniya raw dapat magmula ang pangalan ng susunod na lider ng PNP at hindi sa kahit na anong media outlets.
“They should hear it. Whoever it is should hear about it first from me, not through the news. But yes, we're very clear on what we are going to do next,” ani PBBM.
