Inihayag ni Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla ang pagkonsidera umano ng gobyerno na magkaroon ng “road fee” sa mga dadaang private cars sa EDSA.
Sa panayam ni Remulla sa isang local na radio station, iginiit nitong nauna raw maungkat ang nasabing rekomendasyon sa kanilang naging pagpupulong kaugnay ng Comprehensive Traffic Management Plan (CTMP) kasama si Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.
“There will be a charge if the trains are all fixed, and the entire system is fixed. There will be a metering system within Metro Manila to encourage the public to use public transportation,” anang Interior secretary.
Paglilinaw pa ni Remulla, ipatutupad lamang daw ang nasabing road fee sa EDSA, kung sakaling maisasaayos na ng pamahalaan ang sistema ng pampublikong transportasyon.

“But the first order of the day is that public transportation should be efficient, reliable, and comfortable. That will be prioritized,” saad ni Remulla.
Samantala, nilinaw din ni Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Romando Artes ang posisyon ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. hinggil sa nasabing rekomendasyon.
Sa panayam ng media kay Artes, iginiit niyang pabor lamang si PBBM sa road fee sa EDSA kung maisasaayos muna ang public transportation ng bansa upang magkaroon umano ng alternatibong sakayan ang mga tao.
“But the President himself said that it would only be possible if there would be alternatives, if the mass transport system is efficient because if we don’t the public the alternative and that the commuters have to undergo long queues in public transport, then its implementation is not timely,” saad ni Artes.
Ayon kay Artes, nasa 250,000 sasakyan lamang umano ang kasya sa EDSA ngunit pumapalo na raw sa tinatayang 470,000 ang dumadaan dito kada araw.
