Bukod sa ibababa sa ₱55 kada kilo ang presyo ng imported rice ngayong Pebrero 5, maaari pa raw ito bumaba sa ₱49 kada kilo sa susunod na buwan, ayon sa Department of Agriculture (DA).
Sa isang press conference nitong Martes, Pebrero 4, sinabi ni Agriculture spokesperson Assistant Secretary Arnel de Mesa na ang maximum suggested retail price ng imported rice ay ibababa sa ₱55 kada kilo na dating ₱58 kada kilo.

Hinahangad naman ni Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel ang karagdagang pagbabawas ng MSRP sa mga darating na linggo.

Aniya, maaaring bumaba sa ₱49 kada kilo ang imported rice sa Marso.
“After this reduction, we plan to lower it further to ₱52 a kilo by mid-February and then at ₱49 per kilo two weeks after. This should reflect the lower global prices of rice and the reduced tariff,” ani Laurel.
