Malacañang, iginiit na ‘di surveys batayan ng ‘effective public service’

Matapos bumaba ang rating ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., iginiit ng Malacañang na hindi ang pagkakaroon ng mataas na rating sa survey ang batayan ng epektibong serbisyo publiko.

Sa isang pahayag nitong Lunes, Disyembre 23, sinabi ni Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin na “bonus” lamang ang mataas na popularity ratings.

“True leadership always carries with it the burden to pursue courses of action which are right but may not be popular,” ani Bersamin.

“Public interest is the sole driver behind every executive decision, not the pursuit of high ratings in the next opinion polls. High popularity ratings are the bonus and not the bedrock of effective public service.”

Matatandaang sa pinakabagong Pulse Asia survey na isinagawa mula Nobyembre 26 hanggang Disyembre 3, bumaba ang approval rating ni Marcos mula 50% patungong 48% at maging ang kaniyang trust rating mula 50% patungong 47%.

Sa kabila nito, sinabi ni Bersamin na magpapatuloy ang pangulo sa pagtuon sa kanilang misyon na pagaanin ang buhay ng mga Pilipino at pataasin ang antas ng ekonomiya ng bansa.

“We respect the statement that surveys are dipstick readings of the well of the public opinion.

But we believe that the governance scorecard should not be confined to pollings alone. To consider surveys as the sole indicator is to take our focus away from the more important metrics, like employment, that reliably measure our progress as a nation,” saad ni Bersamin.

“As the President's actions show, we have remained focused on our critical mission of uplifting lives, growing the economy, and securing our future,” dagdag pa niya.
