“Expressing the collective sense of the house of representatives urging President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., to grant presidential pardon to Mary Jane Veloso, an overseas Filipino worker, upon her transfer and return to the Philippines relative to her conviction on drug trafficking meted by the Indonesian Government,” anang naturang resolusyon.
“WHEREAS throughout her trial, she maintained her innocence, claiming that she was duped into carrying the suitcase by Maria Kristina Sergio, her godsister and recruiter, who convinced her to go to Indonesia after losing a job in Malaysia,” ani Magsino sa resolusyon.

“Mary Jane Veloso's case serves as a poignant reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by many OFWs, particularly women. who often fall victim to exploitation and human trafficking, and while her actions led to her being held accountable under Indonesian law, her imprisonment in Indonesia for almost fourteen (14) years, that caused her to lose precious time otherwise spent with her family and loved one, has been a sufficient price she has paid for her mistake,” saad ng House Resolution No. 2139.
“NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, to express the collective sense of the House of Representatives urging President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., to grant presidential pardon to Mary Jane Veloso, an overseas Filipino worker, relative to her conviction on drug trafficking meted by the Indonesian government,” saad ni Magsino.
