Maging ang Archdiocese of Davao ay nagsalita na rin kaugnay sa nagaganap na kaguluhan sa pagitan ng pulisya at mga tagasuporta ni Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, sa loob ng Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) Compound sa Davao City.
Sa inilabas na pahayag nitong Miyerkules, nanawagan si Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles sa magkabilang panig ng kapayapaan, kahinahunan at paggalang sa isa’t isa upang maayos na maresolba ang isyu.
“As the Shepherd of the Catholic faithful of the Archdiocese of Davao, I am morally impelled to speak out, for and in behalf of peace, and to make an appeal for calmness and sobriety among the people of Davao City, especially those involved in the ongoing situation at the KOJC Compound here,” ayon kay Valles.
Anang obispo, bagamat maaaring hindi ito ang tamang pagkakataon upang magbigay ng kanyang mga pananaw sa rason ng kaguluhan, nais lamang umano niyang ipaabot ang apela ng mga mamamayan ng Davao City na irespeto ang rule of law.

Aniya pa, ang maingat na pag-unawa at pagsasaalang-alang sa mga pangunahing kalayaang sibil na ginagarantiyahan ng Konstitusyon ay dapat sundin bilang pagtalima sa direktiba ng hukuman.
Nagpahayag din siya ng pagkaalarma at pagkabahala sa tumatagal na isinasagawang paghahanap at ‘overwhelming’ na presensiya ng mga awtoridad sa isang lugar na dapat sana aniya ay laan para sa mga relihiyosong pagsamba at edukasyon ng mga kabataan, dahil ito aniya ay nakakaapekto sa ilang mga sensitibong isyu sa kalayaan sa relihiyon.
“This may not be the opportune moment to share my insights on the reasons that led to the current very disturbing situation. I simply wish to reiterate what so many people from Davao City and outside are calling for, that is, the respect of the rule of law,” ani Valles.
“Careful discernment, and prudence, and the regard for the basic civil liberties guaranteed by our constitution must be observed in compliance with the directives of the Courts,” dagdag pa niya. “The prolonged search being conducted, coupled with the overwhelming presence of law enforcers in a place dedicated for religious worship, and for the education of the youth, is alarming and troubling, as it touches some sensitive issues on religious freedom.”
Kaugnay nito, umapela ang arsobispo sa agaran at mapayapang pagresolba sa sitwasyon, gayundin sa mutual respect at introspection sa lahat.
Panawagan niya, “I appeal for the immediate peaceful resolution to the situation, and the mutual respect and introspection of all. Let us respect the humanity of everyone, and their inherent rights. Let sobriety take the upper hand in our judgment and action!”
Hinikayat rin niya ang mga mananampalataya na manalangin para sa kapayapaan at kahinahunan sa kanilang mga puso at isipan, at sa pananaig ng hustisya para sa Davao City.
“I fervently ask our faithful to pray for peace and sobriety in our hearts and minds! Let us pray that justice and peace may continue to reign in our beloved city,” ani Valles. “May our Lord bless us and "guide our feet into the way of peace" (Canticle of Zechariah, Luke 1:68-79). May our Blessed Mother, Our Lady of Peace, continue to accompany us here in the City of Davao.”
