Nakarating na umano kay Senador JV Ejercito ang impormasyon ang tungkol sa “second tranche” ng paglipat ng unutilized funds ng PhilHealth patungo sa National Treasury.
Kaya naman sa inilabas na pahayag ni Ejercito noong Huwebes, Agosto 22, sinabi niya na bilang may-akda at principal sponsor ng Universal Healthcare Act, nananatili umano ang tindig niya na ang pondo na nakalaan para sa mga proyekto at programa ay doon lang dapat gamitin.
“PhilHealth, in the first place should have been more proactive in crafting more benefit packages and improving those already existing to lessen the out of pocket expenses of members,” pahayag ni Ejercito.
Dagdag pa niya: “This existence of unused funds is perhaps a clear indicator of a wasted opportunity to do more for our people who desperately depend on the relief brought by our national insurance program.”

Bagama’t hindi naman umano niya sinisisi ang Department of Finance (DOF) sa paglilipat ng pondo sa ibang programa ng gobyerno, umapela siya na panatilihin ang sobrang pondo sa Philhealth.
“Let us give the PhilHealth the means to effectively and efficiently perform their mandate. It can only be done if they possess the funds required to carry out this noble undertaking,” aniya.
