Ipinahayag ni Surigao del Norte 2nd district Rep. Robert Ace Barbers na maaaring gamitin ng International Criminal Court (ICC) ang mga tala ng Kamara mula sa kanilang pagdinig sa madugong giyera kontra droga ng administrasyon ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte, ngunit tutol naman dito si House Committee on Human Rights Chairman Manila 6th district Rep. Bienvenido “Benny” Abante.
Sa isang press conference na inulat ng Manila Bulletin, iginiit ni Barbers na isasapubliko naman daw ang rekord ng House of Representatives kaya’t nasa ICC umano kung nais nila itong gamitin sa kanilang imbestigasyon.
“Records of such hearings would be out in the public. Anyone can use the transcript or maybe even records of the hearings,” ani Barbers.
“As to how they are going to use it, hindi namin sakop iyon. If the ICC would want to use this, it’s up to them kasi nga public record na ito.”
“Kung makakatulong sa kanila o hindi, it is up to them,” dagdag pa niya.

Samantala, tumutol naman si Abante sa naturang pahayag ni Barbers, at iginiit na walang hurisdiksyon ang ICC sa Pilipinas kaya’t dapat daw na kumalap sila ng kanilang sariling ebidensya.
“Our President has made it clear that we do not recognize the ICC in the Philippines right now. So it’s up to them to investigate,” saad ni Abante.
Matatandaang inihayag kamakailan ni human rights lawyer Chel Diokno na base sa 2017 year-end accomplishment report ng Office of the President (OP) sa ilalim ng administrasyong Duterte, 20,322 drug suspects umano ang napatay sa giyera kontra droga sa bansa mula Hulyo 2016 hanggang Nobyembre 2017.
