Tinawag na "beacon of hope and progress" ng nasyon ang democratic socialist political party na Akbayan sa pangunguna ni Senate Deputy Minority Leader at opposition leader Risa Hontiveros, ni Akbayan President Rafaela David, sa kaniyang talumpati sa ginanap na 9th National Congress ng nabanggit na group sa Palasyo De Maynila nitong Huwebes, Agosto 1.
Ayon kay David, "At this critical juncture, Akbayan, led by Senator Hontiveros, offers itself as a beacon of hope and progress for our nation.
"We are committed to challenging the entrenched dynastic duopoly that stifles true democracy and impedes the Philippines' path to inclusive development. We mark a renewed pledge to the Filipino people: that we will fight for a future where every citizen has a voice, and every community can thrive. Atin ang Bukas!" dagdag pa niya.
Inanunsyo rin ni David na nakahanda ang Akbayan para sa darating na 2025 midterm elections kung saan magkakaroon sila ng mga kinatawan sa senate at local race.
