Ipinasara ng lokal na pamahalaan ng Masbate ang isang private mini zoo ng lungsod dahil sa umano’y pagpapakain ng pusa sa ahas.
Kamakailan, viral sa social media ang isang video kung saan makikita ang isang pusa sa loob ng kulungan ng ahas. Makikita rin na nakapatong pa ang ulo ng pusa sa ulo ng ahas.

Nitong Hunyo 18, naglabas ng pahayag ang Masbate City Government kaungay sa pangyayaring ito.
“The recently surfaced video depicting a disturbing incident at a PRIVATE local zoo in Masbate City, where a cat was allegedly fed to a snake, has deeply troubled us. We stand together in expressing our collective shock and sorrow over this apparent act of animal cruelty,” anang lokal ng pamahalaan.
Nagsagawa rin daw ng masusing imbestigasyon ang City Veterinary Office tungkol sa bagay na ito.
Gayunman, binigyang-diin ng lokal na pamahalaan na wala silang kaugnayan sa anumang local zoo sa lungsod at kinokondena nila ang anumang uri ng “animal cruelty.” Nakatuon na rin sila sa maagap na aksyon.
“Those accountable for this reprehensible act will face the full weight of the law,” dagdag pa ng Masbate City Government.
Samantala, nitong Hunyo 19, tuluyan nang isinara ang private zoo sa Masbate.
“The City Veterinarian Office and staff from Business Permit Licensing Office had a discussion with the zoo's owner. After a thorough assessment and collaboration with concerned agencies, a decision was made to permanently close the zoo and turnover all animals to the appropriate authorities,” update ng lokal na pamahalaan.
Dagdag pa nila, “In response, the City Government of Masbate pledged to enforce stricter regulations and conduct regular inspections to ensure that all facilities not only the animal ones meet high care standards. This effort aims to prevent similar incidents and foster a culture of compassion and responsibility towards all living creatures.”
