Mariing kinondena ni Senador Risa Hontiveros ang naging muling pag-atake ng China Coast Guard (CCG) sa bangka ng Pilipinas sa Ayungin Shoal na naging dahilan ng pagkaputol ng hinlalaki ng isang personnel ng Philippine Navy.
Sa isang Facebook post nitong Biyernes, Hunyo 21, ibinahagi ni Hontiveros ang ulat ni GMA News reporter Joseph Morong noong Martes, Hunyo 18, kung saan naputol ang daliri ng isang Filipino Navy personnel sa sagupaan sa pagitan ng mga sasakyang pandagat ng China at Pilipinas sa isang resupply mission sa Ayungin Shoal noong Lunes, Hunyo 17.
Bukod dito ay anim na iba pa raw ang nasugatan, kung saan ayon umano sa mga source ng GMA Integrated News, nakasamsam din ang China ng high-powered firearms at inflatable boats.
“China’s actions at Ayungin Shoal must be condemned — repeatedly and relentlessly,” giit ni Hontiveros.

“As a Filipino and as a Senator, I share the hurt and pain of the Philippine Navy over our wounded personnel,” dagdag niya.
Iginiit din ng senadora na matinding nilabag ng China hindi lamang ang international law, kundi ang mga karapatang pantao ng mga Pilipino.
“China severely violated not only international law, but our human rights. This is unacceptable. Violence should not be committed on our seas,” giit ni Hontiveros.
“We must push for the de-militarization of the West Philippine Sea. I call on Government to put politics and diplomacy back at the captain’s wheel with Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, fisherfolk, and civilian actions.
“Let us optimize every legal, political, and diplomatic potential to preserve security and peace in the region,” saad pa niya.
