Inihayag ng Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) nitong Linggo, Mayo 5, na dalawang overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) ang nasugatan dahil sa nangyaring malakas na pag-ulan sa Hong Kong noong Sabado, Mayo 4.
Sa isang public advisory, sinabi ng DMW na mag-asawa ang naturang dalawang OFWs na nagtamo ng injury matapos magkaroon ng landslide sa kanilang pinagtatrabahuhan sa Sai Kung, New Territories, Hong Kong.
“The two OFWs, a married couple working for a resort owner in Sai Kung, New Territories, Hong Kong, were taking photos and videos of the storm's damage to the facility when a landslide occurred,” ulat ng DMW.
“Both were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The wife sustained head injuries but is in stable condition. She remains in hospital for further observation, while her husband suffered leg injuries and is currently undergoing an operation,” dagdag nito.
Patuloy umanong binabantayan ng DMW, sa pamamagitan ng Migrant Workers Office (MWO) at Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Office sa Hong Kong, ang kondisyon ng dalawang OFWs.
Nagkaloob na rin daw ang DMW-MWO-OWWA ng initial financial assistance sa mag-asawa.
“DMW Head Office will issue further bulletins on their condition as these develop,” saad pa ng DMW.
