May pahayag si Leyte 4th District Rep. Richard Gomez hinggil sa panawagan ni Davao Del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez sa Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) at Philippine National Police (PNP) na bawiin o i-withdraw na raw ang kanilang suporta kay Pangulong Bongbong Marcos, Jr..
“Si Former speaker Alvarez is a friend of mine pero to actually ask the Philippine Army or the AFP to withdraw support to the president is not a good call. I will not submit to that,” saad ni Gomez sa isang ambush interview nitong Martes, Abril 16.
AFP at PNP tiniyak ang loyalty sa Konstitusyon, suporta kay PBBM
“We as the citizen and the AFP as an agency under Philippine government, we have to support its president,” dagdag pa niya.
Itinanong din kay Gomez kung dapat daw bang maging “liable” si Alvarez dahil sa panawagan nito.
“I am not a member of the ethics committee of this house, it’s them who will have to decide and determine that,” sagot niya.
Sa kabila ng panawagan ni Alvarez, tiniyak ng AFP at PNP na mananatili silang tapat sa pagsunod sa Saligang-Batas at paggalang sa chain of command na pinangungunahan ni PBBM.
